The New York Times recently posted a video that displayed the transformation of the New Meadowlands Stadium from a New York Giants game to that of a New York Jets game. The makeover of the new stadium occurred in less than twenty-four hours. The significance of the video and The New York Times website is that now the website able to produce website video content for its' viewers. The website contains videos ranging in twenty different categories which include interviews and short documentaries.

The NFL’s regular season started on Thursday, a welcome relief for football fans who spent the last month suffering through dull preseason matchups, which serve largely as ways for coaches to evaluate which players will be cut and which will get to sit at the end of the bench. But for viewers interested not only in watching games, but also in the way people may watch television in the future, the NFL used its preseason to undertake two interesting experiments. The league showed its first 3-D broadcast of a live game, and, for the first time, offered an online subscription allowing fans to watch any preseason game live online. The concepts of 3-D television and live content streamed via broadband appeal deeply to small groups of believers. Much of the rest of the world is unsure that the future of entertainment lies in buying an expensive screen and wearing funny glasses, or hunching over one’s laptop instead of reclining on the couch. But if these products are the future, chances are that football fans will realize that before the rest of us do.

Here, we take a closer look at a true story where a group of passionate students humorously nominated Admiral Ackbar to become their mascot. This is relevant because it displays students and faculty from a major college institution (Ole Miss) advocating for a new mascot, which happened to be a famous pop culture icon. It is interesting to see how a popular character in the Star Wars Saga is making an impact on a major state university when they are trying to consider the new look of their next mascot.
